According to Sabbath bassist and lyricist Geezer Butler, ‘Fairies Wear Boots’ was intended to be an insult to skinheads. But guitarist Tony Iommi has a more compelling theory: It comes from Ozzy and Butler getting so high that they saw fairies, who were wearing boots. Sabbath doing a song about fairies still rocks harder than a dozen other bands doing songs about Satan, though.
